In a rural Hungarian village undergoing change, Mari Pataki is a talented farmer. Her father, focused on the fields and wealth, forbids her love and arranges her marriage to an older businessman he trades with, saying “land marries land.” Yet her lover is determined to defy tradition and keep their love alive and hope.
