Professor Cantrell, an occult expert, delivers a lecture about the Gaelic demon Morak at the university in Los Angeles. The lecture introduces the demonic entity that becomes central to later events. The audience learns about Morak's supposed powers and background, setting the foundation for the supernatural elements of the story.

A group of students, including Mason Harrue and his friends, visit Professor Cantrell's home to play a prank. The situation escalates when Mason bludgeons the Professor. This brutal attack leaves Cantrell paraplegic and in a coma, marking the beginning of the supernatural repercussions.

Mason's friends follow his orders to murder Cantrell's wife and children, stabbing each of them to death in a horrific act of violence. The attack drastically changes the course of events, leaving Cantrell critically injured and prompting a police investigation. The scene underscores the brutality instigated by the prank gone wrong.

Surviving the attack, Professor Cantrell is left incapacitated and in a coma. While unconscious, he invokes the demon Morak in a desperate attempt to seek revenge on his attackers. This supernatural invocation is believed to set in motion the demonic vengeance that haunts the characters later.

Sean Allen experiences a vivid nightmare where he is pursued by an unseen force through a mausoleum and an empty beach. Upon waking, he confides in Darlene about his disturbed mental state, revealing his escalating paranoia and fear linked to the supernatural events.

While walking in the desert to clear his mind, Sean is taunted by disembodied voices and sees a vision of Cantrell's blood-stained daughter. He is violently attacked by the invisible demon, which disembowels him, demonstrating the deadly reach of Morak's vengeful power.

As Sean is attacked, other friends like Dirk and Phil become increasingly frightened and paranoid about being associated with the supernatural crimes. Mason remains defiant, asserting that Cantrell's curse will not be able to harm him if he keeps faith in his resolve.

Dirk, overwhelmed by the supernatural events, considers suicide but chooses to continue working as a mechanic. He is suddenly attacked and killed when the demon slams a car hood on him repeatedly, symbolizing the destructive power of Morak’s curse.

While working alone as a projectionist, Phil receives disturbing visions of the Cantrell murders. His paranoia culminates in his death, caused by an exploding film projector, linking his demise to the supernatural influence of Morak.

Detective Wexler begins probing the crime scenes, noting the connection between the cloth triangle at Cantrell’s home and Dirk's jacket. He becomes convinced that occult forces are involved and tries to find a way to counteract Morak's influence, stepping into the supernatural mystery.

Wexler confronts Mason, hoping he can find a counter-ritual, but Mason murders the detective instead. Following this, Morak appears and attacks Mason, continuing its cycle of vengeance and violence stemming from the invoked demon.

Now confined to a psychiatric institution, Mason is mocked by staff and inmates for claiming he was assaulted by a demon. His mental state deteriorates as he becomes increasingly isolated, haunted by the supernatural events he's entangled in.
