Maya the Bee: The Golden Orb

In Poppy Meadow, Maya is full of the joys of spring and hustles to wake the hive and Willy to announce the season. Most of the colony remains asleep, so Maya rallies Willy and pushes herself to rouse everyone for the first signs of spring.

Maya and Willy venture to the glow worms, but their exuberance disrupts the hive and damages the precious sunstone. The Queen is displeased, and the pair realize their actions have consequences for the whole colony.

Maya overhears that she and Willy are to be separated because of their chaotic teamwork. Frustrated but determined, she resolves to prove that they are worth staying together and capable of great deeds. The idea of separation becomes a catalyst for their mission.

A passing green ant named Chomp is on the run from the boom-bugs and hands the golden orb to Maya and Willy. The orb turns out to be the egg of Smoosh, the ant princess who will be their unlikely ally.

Maya and Willy team up with Arnie and Barney to ferry the golden orb back toward Bonsai Peak. They understand that the orb is the egg of Smoosh, the heir to the ant kingdom, and their quest becomes a test of their bond.

Maya tries to greet Smoosh, but the infant ant does not understand her name yet. Smoosh emits a fart as a gift to Willy, marking a quirky but real bond beginning between them.

Back at the hive, Crawley repairs the sunstone but fails, leaving the colony anxious. Miss Cassandra later announces that Maya and Willy have left the meadow, intensifying the colony's search.

Smoosh cries and Willy panics; they fear in the dark. Maya sings a lullaby to soothe Smoosh while placing a diaper on her, and Willy joins with his own song before exhaustion takes hold.

Chomp secretly follows Flip and Miss Cassandra to locate Maya and Willy, while Crawley stays behind. Arnie and Barney vent about the spiky trees as they press on, but are caught again by the beetles near Loggy Hollow.

The group finds a wanted poster and a raised hope that they’ve come too far, but tensions rise as Smoosh disappears. Maya recovers quickly, tossing a ball to trigger a chase and grabs Smoosh, then they flee and reunite with Willy and the others.

They ride a leaf to escape the beetles, but Rumba is swept away by a river and needs saving. Maya and Willy set aside their quarrel, reconcile, and vow to return Smoosh to Greenleaf.

Bumbulus, Henchie, and Boof block their path and shove them into a dark cave. Miss Cassandra, Flip, and Chomp arrive to rescue them, and Rumba makes amends with Maya and Willy, forming a plan to defend Greenleaf.

A bird arrives and is the signal for the final battle. The sun rises and the group channels a huge shadow spider to scare away the birds and doom the boom bugs. Bumbulus apologizes, peace ensues between ants and beetles, Bonsai Peak is saved, and the spring festival begins with Maya and Willy as a united pair.
