Little John

In ancient times, the goddess Parvathi drops her nose stud on the Earth, leading to the creation of the Mookuththi Amman temple in Tamil Nadu. The nose stud is believed to hold divine powers, and the malevolent Kalabhairavan waits a thousand years to seize it.

John McKenzie, an American student from Pittsburgh, travels to India to visit the Mookuththi Amman temple and research its legend. He stays with his Indian friend Vasu’s family and is welcomed warmly into their home. He begins to learn the temple’s lore, though some details sound extraordinary.

Inside the temple, Swami Paramananda reveals the legend of the nose stud and the leaf that guides its protection. The leaf’s ability to reveal truths is said to be visible only to John, who remains skeptical. Swamiji’s explanations frame the danger posed by Kalabhairavan.

The evil Kalabhairavan awakens after a long patience and hypnotizes a faithful servant to seize the Mookuththi. The stone remains elusive, resisting direct extraction by force. The threat of the artefact falling into evil hands intensifies the quest to protect it.

Although Kalabhairavan captures it momentarily, the Mookuththi refuses to leave the temple and hides within a snake hill inside the temple precinct. The idol’s power eludes direct control as it rests out of reach.

John is accused of stealing the Mookuththi despite Swamiji’s warnings that he did not take it. Police detain him, turning the investigation into a legal ordeal that threatens to derail his purpose in India.

John escapes custody and seeks Swamiji’s help to clear his name and recover the relic. Swamiji attempts to make him invisible with a magical powder, but the spell instead shrinks John into a tiny form.

Swamiji is arrested on charges related to concealing someone charged with a crime, complicating the mission to defend John and recover the Mookuththi. The temple’s protection seems jeopardized as the authorities close in.

John seeks the help of Vani and the two head toward the police station, with John concealed in Vani’s pocket to avoid further scrutiny. Their partnership becomes essential to outmaneuver the forces arrayed against them.

Before sunset, Swamiji insists that the Mookuththi must be placed back in Amman’s nose, or John will remain as ‘Little John’ forever. The countdown concentrates the tension on a single day and a single act.

John retrieves the Mookuththi from the snake hill just as Kalabhairavan intensifies his pursuit. The struggle between good and evil escalates as the hero fights to safeguard the relic.

In a decisive moment, John places the Mookuththi back in Amman’s nose, undoing Kalabhairavan’s power. The malevolent force is destroyed, restoring balance and ending the immediate threat.

With the evil vanquished, John regains his normal size and reunites with Vani. Their bond completes the journey from fear to harmony as the couple chooses to stay connected to the temple’s legacy.

The Mookuththi remains safe under the temple’s guardianship, with its legends and guiding leaf serving as a reminder of the close call between divine protection and dark ambition. The story closes on the bond between John and Vani and the temple’s enduring power.
