Two weeks later, Natalie, irritated by Keith's lies, breaks into his locker to uncover his real address, and she gets suspended as punishment. This act marks a turning point as their relationship becomes more fraught with secrecy. She then visits Keith's house but he refuses to see her.

Keith reluctantly joins Natalie at night, and she hides in his yellow truck to be near him. They drive to the cliff and, in a late-night confession, Natalie expresses her love and they consummate the relationship in the back of the truck. Afterward, Keith asks them to forget what happened, leaving Natalie heartbroken.

Natalie's tennis rankings slip, threatening her Duke scholarship, and she ends her relationship with Rafael. She learns that Billy died of cancer and that Billy and Keith underwent chemotherapy together, hinting that Keith is battling illness.

One night, Keith comes to Natalie's home and Natalie drives him to the airport, encouraging him to chase his dreams despite his limited time. He opens up about his true feelings, and they share a kiss as the moment stretches toward an uncertain future.

The film cuts to Natalie graduating, with Keith presumably dead. She has adopted many of his habits, notably driving his yellow truck, and resolves to honor his memory by pursuing his dream later on. She travels to London, Ontario to enter Keith's yellow truck in the annual truck show.
