In the picturesque village of Krishnapuram, two neighboring tharavadus—Kizhakkedathu and Puthezhath—stand side by side, their families bound by a deep, shared history. During the vibrant Onam festival, the life of the households tilts when Rajan Warrier, Siddique, falls in love with Ambika, but his marriage is arranged with Saraswathy, daughter of Sankaran Nair, the karanavar of Puthezhath. The lovers’ elopement triggers a chain of tragedies: Saraswathy is later found dead in a quarry, and the Puthezhath family, convinced of a betrayal by Kizhakkedathu, beats Rajan. Krishna Warrier, the elder of Kizhakkedathu, intervenes with a dramatic rescue, pulling Rajan onto a passing train and ordering him never to return, a moment that sows a deep, lasting enmity between the two houses. The feud cements itself in stone as years pass and a new life begins to take shape.

Years later, Krishnanunni, known as Unni, the son of Rajan, is born into a landscape of shifting loyalties. Dileep embodies Unni, who grows up in Tamil Nadu’s Tenkasi alongside his mother Ambika and his father, now devoted to agriculture. As Unni and his friend Vadivelu—Suraj Venjaramoodu—work the land, their path intersects with trouble. In a market clash, the local thief Kalidas, played by Salim Kumar, is beaten by Unni and Vadivelu and becomes an emblem of the simmering tension between the two families. Kalidas escapes by leaping into a canal, but a mix-up soon thrusts Ayyappan Nair, the former karyasthan of Kizhakkedathu, into the center of the drama. Kochu Preman portrays Ayyappan Nair, whose arrestful experiences reverberate through the village, culminating in a revelation that shapes the future course of events.

Ayyappan’s tale reaches Rajan, who learns of the impact his elopement had on the two houses. The two families, once welded by shared space and pain, tighten their boundaries around their homes. A courtroom battle over a common field further tests the fragile peace, and Kumaran, the former karyasthan, is relegated to an out-worker role. In the midst of this climate, the female lead enters: Sreebala, a member of the Puthezhath family, whose arrival shifts the balance of power and affection. Charutha Bhaiju graces the screen as Sreebala, whose presence unsettles the uneasy accord between the clans.

Vadivelu’s lighthearted flirtations give way to a more serious awakening as Sreebala’s arrival triggers a cascade of romantic and social tensions. Unni becomes involved in the college dance scene, tipping the scales by altering the tune of Sreebala’s performance, a moment that helps her weave into the life of the Kizhakkedathu family. The tension intensifies when Anand, son of Sreedharan and Rajan’s second brother, a businessman, harasses Sreebala. Krishnanunni steps in to protect her, but he must also juggle the delicate truth that it was Anand’s father who acted to save, a lie he tells to shield the family’s pride. Soon the long-vanished idol of Lord Krishna resurfaces, found in gravel near the paddy fields, a link in the chain of proof that rekindles the old feud.

With newfound resolve, Krishnanunni leads a mission to reconcile the two feuding houses. The arrival of Sreebala’s sister, Sreedevi, who Vandana Menon portrays, adds another layer of complexity as she confesses love for the serial actor Aby George, Rajeev Roshan. Krishnanunni and Sreebala help Sreedevi elope with Aby George, an act that pushes the two families toward renewed conflict. The revelation that Krishnanunni is Rajan’s son strains the truce further, and the two clans drift apart once again, though the Kizhakkedathu house chooses to embrace Rajan back into their fold.

The turning point arrives when Krishnanunni uncovers the truth behind Saraswathi’s death: it was Susheelan, not a suicide, who orchestrated the tragedy. Susheelan, along with his driver Gopalan, had misused the dowry money given to Rajan to fund a scheme, and Saraswathi objects, only to be killed in a brutal act. The pursuit that follows ends with Susheelan’s car crashing in a fatal chase, removing a central antagonist and clearing the path for unity. In the aftermath, the two families come together once more, and peace is restored as Sreebala and Krishnanunni unite in marriage, sealing a hopeful new chapter for Krishnapuram.

Throughout this saga, the film balances warmth and tension with a grounded, village-rooted sensibility. The Onam festival, the bullock-cart misadventures, the idol’s theft and discovery, the courtroom skirmishes, and the intimate family moments all contribute to a sweeping, emotionally rich tapestry. The characters, brought to life by a varied ensemble, navigate love, betrayal, duty, and reconciliation, ultimately reaffirming that forgiveness and family ties can endure even the deepest rifts.
