A pitch‑noir melodrama follows young Kauko, whose endless obsession and love‑hate relationship with childhood friend Osmi dominates his thoughts. Sitting beside her deathbed, he reflects on his years as a sailor, prisoner, smuggler and World War II soldier, while Osmi’s life has moved from prostitution to a seemingly happy family existence with someone else.
