A charming but dishonest Christian, O'Connell, falls for Alison Marks, the daughter of a rabbi, and pretends to be Jewish, assuming the name Avi Rosenberg. He enlists his childhood friend, Adam Lipschitz, who is dealing with his own wedding problems, to help maintain the deception. Their elaborate ruse leads to a series of comical cultural misunderstandings and ultimately forces them to confront questions of identity and the value of honesty.
