The film opens with a poignant baptism scene featuring two infants, where Jenny is seen tenderly holding one of the babies. In the audience, her parents engage in a conversation filled with concern about Jenny’s ticking biological clock and her increasing need to find a husband. However, underlying this pressure is Jenny’s sense of guilt about an undisclosed matter, which her family remains oblivious to.
As the story unfolds, we see the family gathered at their parents’ home. Jenny arrives and is abruptly introduced to a man named Tommy by her brother. Although Tommy mentions that he must take his leave, he expresses interest in connecting with her later, to which Jenny politely agrees. However, as Jenny departs, her brother warns Tommy against calling her, predicting that she wouldn’t follow up.
Once inside the kitchen, Jenny finds herself in a heated exchange with her sister, who insists that Jenny must find someone special. Jenny counters, asserting that she might already be seeing someone. This prompts her sister to jump to conclusions, suggesting that Jenny is entangled with a married man, especially since she has never brought anyone home. Driven by jealousy of her sister’s seemingly perfect life, her sister accuses Jenny of harboring secretive feelings.
Later, we witness a revealing moment between Jenny and her father in the garage. He urges her to keep his smoking habit a secret, to which she responds, affirming her loyalty to him. During this heartfelt conversation, Jenny opens up about her desire for marriage and admits that she is seeing someone special. However, when her father inquires about the wedding plans, Jenny hesitates and replies, “I don’t know.”
Meanwhile, their mother calls Jenny into the dining room, and Jenny takes the opportunity to clarify that she is not involved with a married man. In a moment of reconciliation, she shares a warm hug with her mother, resolving some of the tension that has built up.
That night, as her parents lie in bed, her father expresses concerns about the man Jenny is seeing. He speculates that the lack of commitment from this mystery man could be the heart of Jenny’s issues. Their discussion sheds light on the growing distance they feel from their daughter, highlighting her increasingly secretive behavior.
