Set in a Mexican city at the close of the 19th century, the story follows Don Francisco, a carefree gambler and bohemian, who nearly neglects his own wedding and arrives late. His pregnant fiancée, abandoned by her disapproving family, is dispatched to Paris, highlighting the clash between societal expectations and his unconventional lifestyle.
