I Am

An alien named John is sent to Earth as a child along with eight others to escape the tyranny of the Mogadorians, who have devastated their planet, Lorien. Under the protection of his guardian, Henri, John begins his new life on Earth while hiding his true identity and extraordinary powers.

To remain safe from the Mogadorians, John and Henri move from Florida to Paradise, Ohio. This change signals a new chapter in John's life as he attempts to blend in at a new school while dealing with the dangers that follow him.

In Paradise, John befriends conspiracy theorist Sam Goode, who sparks his interest in uncovering alien activity. Simultaneously, he meets Sarah Hart, an amateur photographer, and becomes romantically interested in her, adding a layer of normalcy to his extraordinary life.

John, Sam, and Sarah face challenges from Sarah's ex-boyfriend, Mark James, who attempts to intimidate them. This bullying complicates John's attempts to fit in, as he struggles to manage his powers and keep a low profile.

Henri reveals to John the significance of a mysterious box from his father, symbolizing a connection to his alien heritage and responsibilities. Henri explains that John has been chosen as a guardian, which begins to deepen John's understanding of his purpose.
