Hooked Bear

Fishing season has begun, and park ranger J. Audubon Woodlore heads out on the lake to check the anglers. He notices unusual activity as the fish seem to slip away and prepares to respond.

Humphrey the Bear tries to catch fish but cannot hold onto any once he catches them. Frustrated, he watches the fish disappear and plots his next move.

Woodlore sees the fish disappearing and decides to stock the lake with additional fish. He heads toward the fish hatchery to get more stock.

Woodlore confiscates Humphrey's fishing gear and tells him to go fish like a bear. This foils Humphrey's plan and sets up the next step toward stocking.

At the hatchery, Woodlore selects an envelope of fish eggs and prepares a tub of water to hatch them. Within seconds, several fish pop up from the eggs, ready to fill the lake.

When Woodlore returns to the lake to dump the new stock, he finds Humphrey already in the water attempting to eat a small fish. A larger fish swallows the small fish, escalating the moment.

Humphrey retrieves the small fish from the mouth of the larger fish and uses it to lure five more large fishes out of the water. The opportunistic bear's gambit unfolds as Woodlore arrives to measure the catch.

Woodlore measures the fish and finds the small one too tiny, so Humphrey stretches it to look bigger. Annoyed, Woodlore hits Humphrey on the head with an oar, sending him to the lake bottom.

Humphrey surfaces to discover a large fish balloon being played by a young boy. The balloon is popped, and both the boy and Woodlore kick the bear in the knee.

Humphrey borrows a boat bottom and wears it as a hat, then submerges to create a make‑shift shark fin that scares anglers away.

Humphrey grabs the anglers' bags of fish and drags them toward Woodlore's helicopter, loading more than the ranger expects.

Humphrey tries to stuff himself into the helicopter, but the craft is too small. The helicopter, along with the fish, tips and dumps everything back into the lake.

The chief of the US Fish and Wildlife Service calls Woodlore to order him to stop stocking the lake because the fishing season ended yesterday. He reiterates the policy and reminds Woodlore of the deadline, signaling that further stocking would be inappropriate.

Woodlore cuts the rods of the anglers and declares fishing season over. He flips the sign from 'Fishing Season' to reveal 'Hunting Season Now Open', signaling a dramatic change.

Humphrey tries to run away as shots are fired from all directions. He dodges the gunfire while the authorities close in.
