Hollywood Extra Girl

Stargirl and her mother Ana arrive in Los Angeles after moving from Arizona because Ana gets a new job working on a film set. Stargirl is initially unhappy about the move and the prospect of starting over, but Ana encourages her by suggesting they'll have a new adventure. The scene sets the stage for Stargirl's new chapter in a different city.

The Caraways meet their grumpy neighbor Mr. Mitchell, who lives in the same apartment building. Ana begins her work on the film set, leaving Stargirl some keys to explore the town on her own. Stargirl is eager to discover her new environment and find her place.

Stargirl visits her mother at work and observes director Daniel, who she finds unpleasant. Later, her singing at night catches the attention of Evan, the landlord’s son, who introduces himself and shares that his brother Terrell is filming a movie. Evan invites Stargirl to help with their project.

Evan and Terrell watch performances at a bar called Forte, where Stargirl joins them and performs onstage. She impresses Evan and Terrell, and they admire her talent, strengthening their budding friendship. Mr. Mitchell, annoyed by Stargirl’s singing, gifts her earmuffs to help with the noise.

Stargirl and her friends spot Roxanne Martel, a famous musician, at Forte. Stargirl performs a song onstage, which Roxanne appreciates. Stargirl then shares her idea to use Roxanne’s song ‘Miracle Mile’ in their project, but Roxanne declines, leading them to decide to write their own music.

The trio collaborates on creating their original song ‘Figure It Out’ while Roxanne offers musical guidance and suggestions. Roxanne also helps with recording, and Stargirl learns about her experiences in the music industry. This process inspires Stargirl and builds her confidence.

Mr. Mitchell gifts Stargirl a vintage camera, encouraging her creativity, and suggests selling it for film money when needed. Stargirl bonds with Roxanne, who shares her past struggles and advises her to keep pursuing her dreams despite setbacks.

As their project progresses, Stargirl and Evan grow closer. They film scenes for the sizzle reel, and their romantic connection becomes evident. Meanwhile, Terrell continues editing their footage, excited about potential opportunities.

A producer, Priya Collins, watches their sizzle reel and offers to fund a full-length film for ‘Tell Your Story’ with a $1 million deal. The trio happily accepts, thrilled by the prospect of starting their filmmaking careers. However, trouble is brewing as Ana's own project faces shutdown.

Ana informs Stargirl that her film project has been canceled due to allegations against director Daniel. The news indicates they may need to move again when Ana finds another job in Berkeley. Stargirl feels upset as she was beginning to settle into her new life.

With encouragement from Terrell and Mr. Mitchell, Stargirl learns about resilience and the importance of learning from mistakes. She reaches out to her mother, Ana, and begins to regain her confidence and hope for the future.

Everyone gathers at Forte where Stargirl performs onstage with Roxanne and her new band ‘Table Six and the Shirley Temples,’ playing her original song. She declares she will not move again, embracing her new community and identity through music.

Terrell starts filming the full-length feature ‘Tell Your Story,’ with Stargirl and Evan joining him on the beach for the first day of production. This marks the culmination of their creative efforts and new aspirations.
