High adventure high in the Swiss Alps with the girl in the golden hair. Heidi, a 5‑year‑old orphan raised by her aunt Dete in Maienfeld, is sent to her reclusive grandfather on the Alm when Dete seeks work in Frankfurt. Though the old man has long been at odds with the villagers and initially resents her, Heidi’s warmth penetrates his harsh exterior, and she enjoys a delightful stay with him and her new friend, Peter the young goat‑herd.
