Jean Harlow lands in Los Angeles as a teenager, forced into the film industry by her mother and stepfather. Kind‑hearted agent Arthur Landau mentors her, while a ruthless, Howard‑Hughes‑type mogul becomes obsessed with the striking newcomer. Harlow also falls for producer Paul Bern, but their romance is cut short when tragedy strikes.
