Gloria

Gloria, a 58-year-old woman in Santiago, resolves not to spend her days alone after a decade of divorce. She begins attending singles discos to open a new chapter in her life. There she meets Rodolfo, a seven-years-older man who is recently divorced and quickly begins a romance.

On a date at Rodolfo's amusement park on the outskirts of the city, they share a kiss, signaling the start of their romance. The moment underscores the chemistry between the two, despite differences in age and background. Their relationship begins to intensify from this first spark.

Gloria brings Rodolfo to meet her family at her son's birthday dinner, where her ex-husband Gabriel is also a guest. The gathering exposes the strain of old relationships and invites a barrage of questions about Rodolfo's past and future. The family dinner marks the first test of how their lives might fuse.

During the dinner, guests bombard Rodolfo with questions about his life, including his past as a Chilean Navy officer. He struggles to answer, feeling scrutinized and exposed. The awkward moment foreshadows the challenges the couple will face.

After a night of heavy drinking, Gloria becomes overly friendly with her ex-husband Gabriel, which makes Rodolfo uncomfortable. He excuses himself to answer an incoming call from his daughter and does not return to the party. The following day, Gloria ends the relationship in a fit of frustration.

Rodolfo visits Gloria at her office to defend his actions at the party and to reprimand her behavior. He argues that his prior commitments and his daughters' needs should not be a source of judgment. The exchange deepens the emotional rift between them.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts to reconcile, Rodolfo finally convinces Gloria to accompany him to a luxury hotel beside the sea in Viña del Mar. They travel together hoping to salvage their fragile romance. The getaway marks a new, uncertain chapter for both.

Upon arriving, one of Rodolfo's daughters calls to inform him that her mother has been in an accident, and he contemplates leaving. He refuses to abandon the relationship and stays. They share an intimate moment in the hotel room after she strips.

That night, they go down to the hotel dining room and talk about going on vacation as a couple. Rodolfo's phone continues to ring; Gloria, fed up with his distraction, asks to see the phone and drops it into his soup. He excuses himself and never returns to the table, leaving Gloria alone.

After their disastrous hotel night, Gloria drinks heavily and has a wild night wandering the casino, disco, and city streets. She wakes up with a terrible hangover on the beach the next morning to learn Rodolfo has checked out with her belongings and the room is no longer available. She and her cleaning lady Victoria return to Santiago by bus.

Back home, Rodolfo repeatedly tries to contact Gloria, but she remains out of reach. Gloria retrieves one of Rodolfo's paintball guns from her trash and drives to his house, painting the front with green paintballs and shooting him in the groin as he tries to enter with groceries. The family runs out in horror as Gloria drives away.

Gloria heads to a wedding she had originally planned to attend and arrives midway through the reception. Her friends thank and encourage her to enjoy the party, and when the DJ plays her theme song, Gloria by Umberto Tozzi, she rises and takes to the dance floor, letting herself be carried away by the music.
