Getting Lucky

Bill Higgins, a down-on-his-luck nerd, lands a gig as the basketball team's towel boy but is humiliated on his first day. Frustrated and embarrassed, he quits the job and returns to collecting recyclables for spare change.

While attempting to throw a beer bottle in a dumpster, Bill finds Lepkey the leprechaun imprisoned inside the bottle. Lepkey explains that in order to escape he must grant the bottle's captor three wishes.

Bill makes his first wish for a date with Krissi, and the wish is granted instantly. On the date, Krissi ditches him and ends up with Tony, leaving Bill humiliated once again.

To redeem his failed first wish, Lepkey grants a replacement wish for a new car and presents Bill with a red Pinto. The gift changes Bill's prospects for pursuing Krissi, at least temporarily.

Krissi goes on a genuine date with Bill and they play miniature golf, during which they start to build a real connection. The evening marks the first signs of mutual interest.

That night, Bill asks Lepkey to turn him into a cat so he can slip into Krissi's house and keep her safe from danger. The wish succeeds, and he becomes a feline protector as Tony approaches.

Tony arrives and attempts to assault Krissi, but Bill in cat form intervenes alongside Krissi's mother, who calls the police. Tony is arrested as a result of the confrontation.

The next day, Bill's Pinto won't start, so he rides to Krissi's place on his bike. A wish gone wrong shrinks Bill, trapping him inside Krissi's underwear as they ride to school.

After cheerleading practice, Bill is returned to normal size in the women's locker room, which leads to trouble and embarrassment. He must navigate the fallout of the odd incident.

Despite the earlier fiascos, Krissi and Bill decide to go steady after school, signaling a real relationship forming between them.

For his third wish, Bill asks Lepkey for money and receives $300,000 for medical school, then mails Lepkey back to Ireland. The wish solidifies Bill's plan to attend medical school.

That night Bill proposes to Krissi and she says yes, signaling the start of a deeper commitment between them.

Bill and Krissi get married, but soon after Tony kidnaps Krissi, triggering a desperate pursuit.

The pursuit leads to a surreal sword fight with shish kebabs, during which Tony accidentally skews a wasp's nest and is defeated. Bill and Krissi survive the ordeal.

In a final twist, Lepkey appears inside a non-alcoholic sparkling wine bottle Bill had purchased, confirming the entire story and ending the mystery.
