Amanda, a young babysitter, arrives at the Lloyds’ home to watch their son for the evening. After the parents leave, eerie disturbances in the gloomy old house heighten her anxiety. The nightmare escalates when the boy’s biological father, recently escaped from a nearby mental institution, shows up, turning the night into a terrifying ordeal.

Amanda arrives to babysit at the estate

Amanda, a college student, arrives at the large estate in the woods to look after Tara. She notices the heavy number of locks on the front door and meets Tara before they prepare for bed. The uneasy atmosphere hints at something sinister lurking in the house as Helen and Jim depart.

The watcher and the doorbell

While Amanda makes tea in the kitchen, a man watches her from the window and odd noises echo through the house. The doorbell rings and her boyfriend Chris appears at the doorway. He explains that Helen and Jim aren't married and that Helen's actual husband was institutionalized after an attempt on her life, and they lounge on the couch until Helen calls to check in and Chris leaves.

As Chris steps outside, a man hiding outside launches a brutal attack, punching him repeatedly. Chris collapses, and Amanda is left horrified by the sudden violence on the property.
