Flo heads Dow’s School for Boys, a tiny enrollment of twelve. When the pupils become unruly at dinner, she fires the lenient assistant principal. The boys slip away and he tries to tutor them outdoors, until Flo sprays them with a hose, chases them into the ice‑house and locks the door. After an hour she pours hot coffee in, removes his ladder and strands him; he concedes and she releases the boys. He departs, but a romance has sparked between them.
