Chris Cringle and his wife Ruth operate a Christmas presents workshop on their ancient farm near the hamlet of North Peak, Alaska. This remote location is vital for their Christmas production, which supports not only their livelihood but also the local economy.

The US government begins to cut subsidies to Chris's company due to falling profits from diminished children's interest in Christmas. This decline in funding creates a significant impact on Chris's ability to run his workshop and continue his production.

Captain Jacobs from the US military offers Chris a two-month contract to produce jet fighter components. Initially, Chris rejects this offer, concerned about the implications of shifting from toys to military supplies.

After some encouragement from Ruth, who helps lift his spirits, Chris reluctantly agrees to accept the government contract just this once. This decision marks a turning point for Chris as he prioritizes the survival of their workshop.

Billy Wenan, a cruel boy living with his elderly grandmother, becomes the antagonist in the story. His mischievous and malicious behavior sets him on a path that ultimately leads to violent consequences involving Chris.

After receiving a lump of coal from Chris on Christmas Eve, Billy vows to take revenge. He hires hit-man Jonathan Miller, driven by his resentment towards Chris for what he perceives as humiliation.

Hit-man Jonathan Miller begins his violent pursuit of Chris, fueled by a personal vendetta from childhood. This escalates into a deadly rampage, leading him to Chris's farm where his intention is to eliminate Chris.

Miller executes a surprise attack on Chris's farm, murdering US Army soldiers stationed there. The confrontation escalates when he sneaks into the workshop, only for an elf worker to raise the alarm.

In a dramatic showdown, Chris confronts Miller, resulting in a fierce duel. Despite wounding Miller, Chris is shot in the head, leaving him in a critical condition after the battle.

In a pivotal moment, Ruth takes justice into her own hands and kills Miller, ensuring the safety of her and Chris. This act of bravery helps to conclude the immediate threat they faced.

Chris begins to heal from the injuries sustained during the conflict. His recovery symbolizes hope and resilience amidst the turmoil they experienced, both personally and in their work.

Chris and Ruth decide to confront Billy Wenan, aiming to put an end to his cruel antics. They stop him from committing further wrongdoings, specifically from tampering with his grandmother’s milk to conceal his fraudulent behavior.
