Alice, a 16‑year‑old introvert with an unusually acute sense of hearing, is placed by her mother in a Catholic foster home. She feels like an outsider among confident teenage girls until she meets Berivan, a Kurdish asylum‑seeker in Germany. Their bond deepens, but Berivan’s romance with an Albanian boy ultimately strains and breaks their friendship.
