Set in Han Imperial China, this film follows the story of Ping, a young girl who discovers a dragon egg. As one of the last remaining eggs, it holds the key to saving the dragons from extinction, as they had previously been banished from the kingdom. Palace guards pursue Ping, forcing her to flee and return the egg to the ocean. Along the way, she encounters Long Danzi, an ancient dragon, and learns she is a Dragonkeeper, destined to protect them.
