A baroque, claustrophobic reinterpretation of Mozart’s opera follows Don Giovanni as he tries to seduce a young woman obsessed with collecting Christian icons. The surreal narrative draws loosely on Jules Barbey d’Aurevilly’s short story “The Greatest Love of Don Juan,” mixing opera, eroticism and dark humor in a tightly stylized setting.
