The film chronicles Princess Diana’s final year, from May 1996 until the tragic crash in August 1997. It follows her relationships with a Pakistani heart surgeon and with Dodi Al Fayed, her ongoing battle with the media, her extensive charity work, and her bond with her sons. Re‑created scenes echo well‑known photographs and events, ending with the note that she was about to accept Dodi’s marriage proposal when the accident occurred.
