A lively Columbia B‑plus melodrama, this 1930s remake of Frank Capra’s silent Submarine follows submarine lieutenants Dorgan (Richard Dix) and Mason (Chester Morris) as they vie for the affection of dance‑hall singer Carmen (Dolores del Rio). Though Carmen marries Dorgan, she still flirts with Mason while Dorgan is on duty, but their rivalry fades when Dorgan must rescue Mason and his crew from a sunken submarine.
