Margaret Brown’s documentary follows the search for The Clotilda, the final ship documented to have carried enslaved Africans to America. The 2019 discovery of the ship’s wreckage ignites renewed interest in Africatown, a community established by the descendants of those enslaved. The film explores their efforts to preserve their unique heritage, confront the legacy of slavery, and seek justice and recognition for their ancestors’ suffering, highlighting a powerful story of resilience and cultural identity.
