Georg Büchner’s drama examines 1794’s peak of the Reign of Terror, when revolutionary zeal becomes a blood‑bath. Directors Alan Clarke and Stuart Griffiths stage the piece, showing Danton, the hero who, horrified by the guillotine he helped create, tries to stop the carnage, while Robespierre and Saint‑Just push the Jacobins forward with fierce zeal.
