In 2008 a grieving couple mourns the loss of their eight‑year‑old son in a boating accident. When the mother sees a child who looks exactly like their dead boy, she investigates the fertility clinic that assisted her pregnancy. She discovers the clinic secretly cloned her son in a “Baby 2000” experiment and still holds the genetic material to produce another identical child, forcing the couple to confront a painful ethical choice about accepting a replica of their lost child.
