Mickey, Donald and Goofy begin the clock tower cleanup

Mickey cleans the clock face from outside, riding the second hand as he goes with a mop. Inside the tower, Goofy scrubs the gear teeth with a large toothbrush. Donald, singing 'Hickory Dickory Dock', begins to mop the mainspring and ignores several warning signs. A misstep causes the mop to slip and traps Donald inside the mechanism.

Donald struggles to fix the mainspring

Inside the clock, Donald tries to reinsert the last piece of the mainspring with a mallet. The loose end taps him and the spring echoes his shout. In a fit of temper, he strikes again, sending the spring back and knocking him off. After freeing himself, the oscillation makes his body move involuntarily.

Mickey encounters a sleeping stork

Mickey, now inside the clock, discovers a sleeping stork blocking his path. He attempts several tricks to move it, but the bird remains motionless. The stork proves stubborn and does not budge no matter what Mickey tries.

Stork drama escalates; Mickey is carried away

When the stork eventually moves, it spins around and ends up back where it started. Frustrated, Mickey shoves the bird out of the tower, but it flies back in and snatches him up as if he were a baby. The stork releases him, but he is left hanging on a rope while water from a bucket spills onto his head.

Goofy cleans the exterior bell as 4:00 PM approaches

Goofy continues cleaning the exterior bell as the clock approaches 4:00 PM. The interior mechanism begins to awaken, hinting that trouble will soon erupt.

Father Time rings the bell

The first statue, Father Time, emerges to strike the bell. As the toll shakes the bell, Goofy’s head vibrates and he sits down, dazed. The statue retreats back into the tower after the toll.

Lady Liberty's tolls shake Goofy again

For the second toll, Lady Liberty rings from the opposite side, jolting Goofy again. After the second toll, he steels himself for the next appearance.

Goofy confronts the third ring; prepares for the fourth

During the third toll, Goofy leaps out, ready to attack. But when he sees Lady Liberty coming for the fourth ring, he apologizes and bows instead, catching himself off guard.

The Liberty torch’s arm drops and gives Goofy a hard knock to the head, sending him into a lovestruck daze. Mickey spots the danger and looks for a way to pull Goofy back to safety, repeatedly intervening.

Mickey manages to rescue Goofy at each turn during the chaotic tolling, barely preventing a fall. The chaos continues as the trio tumbles toward a window and slips into the clock, still tangled with gears as they try to regain balance.

The mainspring repair is undone and the trio moves together

Finally they crash onto the mainspring, undoing the repair Donald had just finished. The three bodies land in the same gear where Donald had been stuck, and they move in a humorous, synchronized rhythm as the mechanism keeps turning.
