This is a chronicle detailing the tragic situation of the Uighurs, an ethnic minority of approximately eleven million people residing in China’s Xinjiang region. Speaking a Turkic language and practicing Islam, they face severe cultural and political oppression under the government, including torture, disappearances, forced labor, and the forced re-education of children and adults. Mass sterilizations, extensive surveillance, and the destruction of historical sites further contribute to the hardships endured by the Uighur population.
