Karitas, a single mother of four, struggles to make ends meet while battling a losing custody fight with her ex‑husband over three daughters. Meanwhile her twelve‑year‑old son Gudmund suffers brutal school bullying, pushing him toward ruin. His only friend, Marinó, a schizophrenic in his forties living with his mother in the same building, loses his grip on reality when he discovers his mother’s secret relationship.
