Released after seven years in central jail for a murder he committed to save his life, Sethu returns to a society that views him as a hardened criminal. He struggles to find work due to the stigma of being an ex-convict, facing hostility from family and the police. The psychological burden grows as he is pressured to choose between survival and his own moral code, leading him toward a dangerous path before he seeks redemption.

Keerikadan Jose is a hardcore criminal whose death becomes the catalyst for new threats against Sethu and his family. He had an affair with Madhavi Varma and sired two children, Indu and her brother, leaving a turbulent legacy behind. His siblings seek vengeance for his death, fueling a cycle of violence in the community.

Achuthan Nair, Sethu's father, aspired for his son to become a police inspector but collapsed into alcoholism after the conviction. He refuses Sethu upon his return, creating a fractured family dynamic. His eventual suicide marks a tragic turning point for the family’s sense of honor and belonging.

Ammu is Sethu’s mother, overcome with mixed emotions on his return. She is joyful to see him but constrained by the social stigma around his crime. Her warmth and faith provide a counterbalance to the harsh judgment surrounding Sethu.

Indu is Keerikadan Jose’s illegitimate daughter who shows sympathy towards Sethu and encourages him to live a new life. She represents a bridge between the old criminal world and the possibility of redemption. Her presence complicates loyalties within the family and community.

Parameshwaran, once a powerful victim, is now fully paralysed and runs a cycle repair shop with his wife and daughter. His condition inspires Sethu to choose a new path and demonstrates how a broken life can still function with support from loved ones.
