Johnson, Kamal Haasan is a technically skilled man who hatches a plan to assassinate Chief Minister Madhava Menon using a radio-operated car, but the setup shatters when unforeseen twists throw the scheme off balance. In a twist of fate, he crosses paths with a talented mimicry artist, Jayaram who can imitate a wide array of celebrities’ voices. Johnson presents himself as a government agent and asks Jayaram to record a bogus Republic Day message filled with empty promises, a tape that could tilt the political ground beneath Madhava Menon’s feet.

The plan advances when Johnson uses the fabricated recording to replace an existing tape at the All India Radio Station in Thiruvananthapuram, a move that shocks Madhava Menon and triggers harsh criticism from party colleagues. Alarmed by the fallout, Madhava Menon enlists his trusted DIG, Madhu as K. Gopalakrishna Pillai, to investigate the incident and nab the alleged culprit. As Pillai digs deeper, he begins to sense foul play the moment the broadcast reveals itself to be a crafted manipulation of voices and intent.

During a confrontation, Jayaram challenges Johnson, who then unveils his past. Johnson reveals a painful tie to Renuka, Madhava Menon’s daughter, a relationship that stirs a potent mix of love and danger. The revelation enrages Madhava Menon, who wields his influence to issue an arrest warrant against Johnson’s family on charges of prostitution. The weight of this abuse drives tragedy home: Johnson’s family, including Renuka Urmila Matondkar, succumbs to despair, a devastating blow that leaves Johnson in ruins.

Seeking justice and retribution, Jayaram aligns with Johnson to dismantle Madhava Menon’s political standing. They orchestrate a televised humiliation of the Chief Minister, broadcasting a message that harshly critiques unemployed youths; the visuals are cleverly dubbed by Jayaram to lend credibility to the attack. The plan also involves draining a substantial sum from a distress relief fund using a voice mimicked to resemble Madhava Menon, further nailing his integrity to the cross.

The culmination is brutal and unsparing: Johnson confronts Madhava Menon, compelling him to shoot him, and the Chief Minister complies, believing it to be a form of justice. Johnson dies in the act, a tragedy witnessed by law enforcement that marks the end of Madhava Menon’s political ascent. The resulting scandal undermines his faction, leaving the political landscape altered and fragile, with Johnson’s sacrifice and Renuka’s memory serving as a stark reminder of the personal costs embedded within political games.
