An urban legend tells of a shinigami—an Angel of Death named Boogiepop—who frees people from their suffering. When female students start disappearing from Shinyo Academy, the police write them off as runaways, but some students sense a far darker force. They confront Boogiepop and uncover a more sinister threat behind the vanishings.
