Blow Out

Sound technician Jack Terry is tasked by his producer, Sam, to improve the audio for the budget slasher film, *Co-ed Frenzy*. Seeking a more authentic scream to enhance the film's effect, Jack takes on the challenge with enthusiasm.

While recording sounds at a local park, Jack witnesses a horrific accident when a car crashes into a creek. Despite the driver, Governor George McRyan, losing his life, Jack bravely rescues a young woman named Sally Bedina amid the chaos.

After the accident, Jack accompanies Sally to the hospital, where he is questioned by a detective regarding the incident. It is during this time that he asks Sally out for a drink, starting to bond over their shared experience.

As it turns out, Governor McRyan was a presidential contender and Sally was his escort. An associate of McRyan, Lawrence Henry, pressures Jack into helping Sally escape the hospital to conceal her involvement in the accident.

While reviewing his audio from the accident scene, Jack becomes alarmed when he hears what he believes to be a gunshot prior to the tire blowout. This discovery leads him to suspect that the car crash may have been part of a sinister assassination plot.

A news report reveals that Manny Karp captured the accident on film, heightening Jack's curiosity about the truth. When Karp sells his photos to a local tabloid, Jack creatively combines them with his audio, noticing telltale signs of foul play.

Sally, initially hesitant, decides to join Jack in investigating the accident deeper. As they work closely together, Jack shares the traumatic tale of his past in law enforcement, revealing how he left his commission due to the death of an undercover officer.

Unbeknownst to Jack, both Sally and Karp are involved in a larger scheme surrounding McRyan. A rival candidate has enlisted a thug named Burke to exploit McRyan's connection with Sally, aiming to use scandal to force him out of the presidential race.

In a daring attempt to aid Jack's investigation, Sally takes the risk of stealing Karp's film, which contains critical evidence of the gunshot. Her actions may expose the truth that Jack has been seeking, but conspire danger surrounds them.

To further derail McRyan, Burke fabricates a fictional serial killer called the 'Liberty Bell Strangler' to distract authorities. His intricate web of deception grows as he murders an innocent look-alike to cover his tracks, escalating the tension.

As the situation intensifies, Jack learns that Burke is masquerading as Frank Donahue, a local talk-show host. The villain urges Sally to meet with him, putting her in jeopardy as Jack races to save her, unaware of the true danger.

Jack desperately follows Sally, realizing the true identity of her supposed ally, Burke. In a frantic chase, he crashes his vehicle into a department store window, suffering incapacitating injuries that further complicate his mission.

Upon regaining consciousness, Jack learns that Burke has attacked Sally on a rooftop. With a heavy heart, he confronts Burke, leading to a brutal struggle that ends in tragedy as Jack discovers he has lost Sally for good.

With Burke dead and crucial evidence gone, Jack's attempts to reveal the conspiracy seem futile. In his grief, he continuously listens to the haunting recording of Sally's scream as he tries to find solace in his work on *Co-ed Frenzy*.

Jack integrates the tragic audio of Sally's scream into the film, believing it to be the perfect emotional moment. As producer Sam plays it back, Jack is forced to face the painful echoes of his past, highlighting the stark reality of his loss.
