Arriving in a Spanish village, a young doctor notes the locals’ secretive behavior. Mocked by youths, he meets Gonzalo, an unofficial leader who tells him to leave. He befriends the village schoolteacher, and their romance provokes Gonzalo’s violent jealousy.
