The climax unfolds at the Tejpura checkpoint, where Surya — a lower‑caste police officer—asks his superior, Yadav, to turn a nearby mall into a sanctuary for the starving migrants. Yadav rebuffs him, asserting that people of “lower” classes may only enter a building while it is being constructed. Trivedi, a frantic security guard, issues an ultimatum: if the police block his bus from entering the mall to seize food, he will force his way in.

When Trivedi storms the mall, the police respond with violence, and Trivedi’s anger erupts into overt caste abuse toward Surya. He brandishes a gun and begins looting food. Surya lunges forward, not to punish Trivedi but to calm the chaos and keep the crowd from being crushed. He stages a fake hostage situation, pretending to hold Triveda‑​r at gunpoint, and together they flee on a motorbike while the police give chase.

During the frantic ride, Surya tells Trivedi to abandon the bike and run, hoping to spare him from the burning confrontation. Trivedi, bewildered, accuses Surya of betraying him. Surya replies that he is merely buying Trivedi a chance to escape a system that punishes anyone who demands basic survival—food, water, shelter—especially when they belong to a marginalized caste. The moment underscores the film’s message: the same caste prejudice Trivedi hurled at Surya now blinds him, preventing him from seeing the humanity in his own plight.

The police soon catch up: Yadav seizes Surya, while Ram Singh apprehends Trivedi. In his final exchange with Yadav, Surya declares that he will not bow to the caste hierarchy that has dictated his life, even if it costs him his job. Trivedi, meanwhile, slips away by handing the cash he’s hoarded to Ram Singh, a reminder that upper‑caste privilege often finds an escape route through connections.

The film ends with a lingering shot of the open field surrounding the checkpoint, packed with countless migrant workers waiting for a train—or any means—to carry them home. The image serves as a stark, lingering testament to the human cost of the lockdown and a silent plea that such suffering should never be forgotten.
