The film chronicles Anwar’s battle against entrenched corruption during his years in government from 1993 to 1998. His relentless anti‑graft campaign ultimately provoked a politically driven prosecution that sent him to prison, igniting the Reformasi movement and a push for democratic reforms across the country.
