That night, Santa reveals a technologically advanced sleigh to help deliver gifts faster. The sleigh malfunctions, and Obie, the lead elf mechanic, is tasked with repairing it. The event highlights the strained balance between Santa's duties and Obie's family life.

In an ice cave, X directs SAMTU to build the Gyrotron, a device intended to eliminate Earth's gravity at the North Magnetic Pole. The goal is to enable the Klepts to collect objects from the planet more easily. This marks a pivotal step in their plan to harvest Earth’s 'stuff.'

X ventures into Christmas Town and encounters Obie, who mistakes him for an inanimate doll when X plays dead. Obie later hands X over to Holly as a gift, setting the stage for his exposure to human kindness. The gift initiates a turn toward empathy that challenges his mission.
