Moonbase Alpha, a research colony of 300 Earth personnel in the crater Plato, watches atomic waste silos on the Moon’s far side. Magnetic radiation makes the waste explode, freeing the Moon from Earth’s pull and sending it into space. Stranded, the crew drifts and encounters an advanced planet that projects a fake attack on the base. The TV movie uses footage from two “Space: 1999” episodes, “Breakaway” and “War Games.”
