Nagabhushanam and his son Nagaraju (Satyanarayana) run a smuggling ring that illegally transports forest produce. Ramu (NTR) opposes them, rallying the villagers to resist. Padma (Jayaprada), the daughter of forest officer Jaggayya, falls in love with Ramu, while tribal woman Chilakamma (Jayasudha) regards him as a brother. Nagabhushanam enlists Jaggu (Sridhar) to drive Ramu away, but it is later revealed that Ramu is actually a covert forest officer on an undercover mission. The climax ends with the criminals’ arrest.
