Filmed over six weeks in late 1971 and early 1972, the documentary combines interviews with Protestants, Catholics, politicians and soldiers with TV news footage of bombings. It focuses on four deaths, which director Ophüls called a humanistic, social‑democratic reminder that life is not cheap. The BBC refused to broadcast it, judging it too pro‑Irish.
