Efisio Mulas is a timid laborer who ekes out a living with occasional jobs, mainly tending Don Leandro Sanna’s salon. He augments his meager earnings by betting in the traditional “head‑against‑head” strength contest with coworkers. Meanwhile, the village remains divided by a centuries‑old feud between the Sanna and Porcu families.
