In 1957, the Soviet Union launched the dog Laika into space aboard Sputnik 2, making her the first living creature to orbit the Earth. Tragically, she did not survive the mission. The story serves as inspiration for this short film, which opens with a disaster on an international space station. A lone Russian astronaut escapes in a spacecraft, becoming isolated and disoriented as he journeys through space and confronts unsettling events. The film explores themes of loss, guilt, and the sacrifices made in the pursuit of space exploration, while honoring Laika’s poignant story.
