In England, Pakistani Yasmin leads a double life. Within her community she observes traditional Muslim customs, dresses modestly, cooks for her father and brother, and enters a sham marriage with illegal immigrant Faysal to secure a British stamp before divorcing him. At work she adopts Western attire, is treated as a regular employee, and befriends a supportive Caucasian colleague. The post‑9/11 rise in prejudice and societal pressure forces her to reevaluate her choices and reshape her future.
