A young Tennessee Valley Authority bureaucrat is sent to rural Tennessee to oversee dam construction. He meets resistance, especially from a farmer who opposes hiring black laborers. The plot centers on evicting an octogenarian from her river‑island home and his romance with her widowed granddaughter. The film has been preserved by the Academy Film Archive with The Film Foundation.
