The film recounts the 1964 Wilderness Act and its three champions: forester‑philosopher Aldo Leopold, author of Sand County Almanac who popularized “ecology”; Bob Marshall, founder of the Wilderness Society; and Howard Zahniser, a champion of wild places. From the 1920s to the 1950s they fought to protect U.S. wilderness, igniting environmental movement.
