After a bombing destroys a Slovene town, a Slovene boy and a German girl head for a mythical valley where war does not exist. On the way they meet a black American pilot who parachutes from a downed plane; despite losing his parents to Allied bombers, he joins them. Speaking German, the trio forms a symbolic triangle of peace, seeking a refuge.
