In a remote town, the only son of the most influential family is discovered dead and naked in a wine shop, prompting his father to accuse Cheng Niang’s husband, Chai‑Tseng Chu, of murder. Tseng insists on his innocence while Cheng Niang vanishes. Corrupt official Old Lin tries to bribe Magistrate Tang to secure Tseng’s immediate execution.
