Union soldiers march off to battle amid cheering crowds. When the fight turns against the Union, a frightened soldier abandons his unit and seeks refuge in his girlfriend’s home. Overcome with shame, he summons the courage to slip back across enemy lines, risking his life to rescue the comrades left trapped behind.
